Legrandite is a rare and highly sought after zinc arsenate species. It is certainly among the most desirable treasures in the mineral collecting world. The Legrandite specimens from the classic Mapimi mine stand as one of the greatest mineral occurrences extant. This miniature specimen hosts a 1.0 cm group of sharp, very lustrous, glowing yellow color, monoclinic "blades" of Legrandite on Limonite matrix. The color is as good as it gets for the species, and if you look closely, you can see some of the crystals are actually gemmy in areas! The front of the group is in great shape, though there is a separation mark on the back of the crystals where they were connected with additional Limonite in the pocket. Good specimens of Legrandite are seldom seen on the market, and I don't have to tell you that fine specimens sell for huge money these days. Legrandite is really known from only a handful of localities in good quality specimens, but none of them are anywhere as significant as those from Mapimi, so don't miss out on this classic specimen from this world famous locality.
