Item Description

A colorful, excellent, old-time, combination specimen from the famous Old Dominion Mine at Globe, Arizona. Sparkling, emerald-green, primary Malachite microcrystals in bubbly, botryoids richly cover the gossan matrix and a large field of colorless, dazzling Calcite rhombs are aesthetically set in the center of the piece. The Malachite occurs as numerous, 2 to 4 mm, scintillating botryoids composed of less than 1 mm, dark emerald green crystals in rich patches that contrast nicely with the underlying charcoal-colored matrix. The white clusters of 2 mm Calcite crystals enliven the contrast with the Malachite! An attractive combination piece from this historic Arizona locale, probably dating to the 1950s or 1960s. The piece has several fine display views. Ex Bob Trimingham Collection (which we also handled nearly 10 years ago). Bob paid $150 for this, at the time the pocket came to market in 2010.
