Item Description

A classic "floater" thumbnail specimen of the well-known and iconic Malachite pseudomorphs after Cuprite. This piece shows textbook octahedral form with a reddish-brown hue (due to oxidation) and thin green color along the edges. Although the Malachite pseudomorphs after Cuprite from Onganja, Namibia are typically bigger, they don't have the superb crystal form of these amazing old classics from Chessy. This is a very good quality specimen considering the age of the piece, and it is very difficult for collectors to obtain fine quality specimens of this material on the market. This specimen was mined circa mid 1800s. A great thumbnail for any collector, a collector of European classics, or anyone who appreciates secondary ore minerals.
