Item Description
Shocking neon-orange fluorescence on this showy and sculptural two-sided manganoan calcite specimen from the Colorado's famous Idarado Mine. Intergrown pretty pastel-pink translucent scalenohedrons have interesting frosted layered prism faces with nailhead terminations. The large central crystal is 5.7 cm and the calcites rest on quartz matrix. Ex Dixon and Wolfe Collections. Purchased by Dixon in Silverton in the 1960s or 70s, while the mine was still in operation. The mine closed in 1978. Classic, desirable Idarado manganoan calcite. Valued $900-1250
