Halls Gap Millerite is a classic USA and worldwide locality for this species, millerite. Specimen like this, showing a full quartz geode laced with crystals, are are today as the locality has been offlimits to colelctors for nearly 20 years or maybe more. Both halves of the miniature chalcedony-lined geode host bright brassy, acicular millerite crystals. The smaller half has a striking nest of needles, with the needles being more isolated in the larger half. The larger half also features tabular sprays of lustrous, metallic-gray marcasite crystals, an uncommon accessory mineral. Choice and rare combination material from this famous Kentucky locale, seldom seen on the market today. From the R.D. Mushlitz Collection. Matched geode halves of this quality are not very common and this a very fine example because they are balanced in size, as well, so that they display nicely together. Valued $1000.
