Mimetite (unusual style)

Here we have an old classic style of Mimetite from Tsumeb with sparkling, stout radial sheaves of crystals on a contrasting matrix. This attractive piece has slightly divergent crystal sprays of lustrous and translucent, rich golden-yellow Mimetite from 3 to 7 mm in length. Most of the lustrous mini-Mimetite groups diverge from a common point and fan out slightly to the terminations. There are hundreds of these crystals that vary from a medium to light golden yellow on the contrasting, dark olive-green Descloizite??? coated matrix for great presentation. Other than some of the crystals at the periphery, the crystals on the display face are nicely terminated. A large and attractive piece of this older style of Mimetite from this world-class deposit! This is a very old style probably from before the 1960s.
