Mixite on Quartz (rare locality)

Item Description

Mixite is a rare bismuth-copper arsenate hydrate and this is a very rich specimen nicely displayed on both colorless and brick-red colored Quartz crystals. The green-blue Mixite crystals are very abundant on this colorful piece and are intimately associated with copious amounts of a second generation of drusy Quartz crystals. The Mixite occurs as brightly colored sprays from 1 to 4 mm in size that are found at intersections of some of the red Quartz crystals and locally isolated on these same crystals. Nearly all of the Mixite is covered by a clear, sparkly druse of late Quartz, rarely as uncoated sprays. The large, colorful, brick-red cluster of Quartz crystals to 4 cm serve as a host to the Mixite and drusy Quartz. This is a very dramatic and rich piece!
