Item Description

A VERY RARE large combination specimen from this most obscure Skarn-type Tungsten deposit in Rio Grande do Norte State. Intergrown, highly lustrous metallic Molybdenite blades are concentrated on one corner of the blocky, hefty wedge-shaped matrix. The Matioli label indicates both Ferritungstite and Tungstite on the piece although we cannot confirm that beyond consulting. We showed this piece to our resident mineralogist, Dr. Tom Campbell, and very knowledgeable Brazilian collector. He believes the piece has RARE yellow Ferrimolybdite near the Molybdenite blades as a bonus. The matrix consists mainly of gray-white Dolomite and green Diopside. Not particularly good looking, but an extreme Brazilian combination rarity. ex Matioli collection.
