Item Description
A very nice, well-formed Monazite-(Ce) crystal that is lustrous and complete all around, front and back. This crystal is a translucent bronze-brown color. The crystal looks to be one crystal on visual inspection, but there are actually two crystals in parallel growth (not twinned). Monazite-(Ce) is a REE phosphate and this piece exhibits textbook form. This is from an unusual Brazilian locality at Itambe in the Bahia State of Brazil. Alvaro undoubtedly picked this up for its good crystal form and because of the unusual locality.
