Muscovite ps after Corundum var. Sapphire

Item Description

This robust, glistening, doubly tapered specimen is shockingly a Corundum (sapphire) crystal has been partially replaced by Muscovite. A multitude of tiny, scintillating Muscovite and Corundum crystals cover the surface of this piece. It is a pale pinkish gray with literally hundreds of both Muscovite and Corundum crystals on this essentially doubly terminated oddity. It looks to be a partial replacement of Corundum after Muscovite with a secondary growth of fine-grained Corundum that sparkles all over the surface, but displays only a muted fluorescence. Although pseudomorphed, it still retains its hexagonal outline steep, pyramidal terminations. This is a truly rare and unusual specimen , one of those oddities saved only because Larson was an avid collector on the ground there at the time they came out, or otherwise they simply never get out to the market.
