Item Description
Outstanding seam of forest green Natrochalcite, a very rare hydrated, sodium, copper sulfate, from the TYPE LOCALITY of the famous old Chuquicamata Mine in Chile. The Natrochalcite has an excellent vitreous luster, so under good light it virtually emanates a rich green glow. Very attractive. It is difficult to date this fine miniature, but many of the best Natrochalcites were found soon after the mine opened in 1915. A rich, rare specimen of a gorgeous copper species! I believe that most of these date to the midor early 1900s, and no later than the 1960s.
