Item Description

An exceptional and rare natrolite miniature from this extinct gabbro-diabase quarry, now on the site of a nature reserve where collecting is strictly prohibited (MINDAT). A striking jackstraw cluster of very glassy, terminated, transparent to translucent, colorless prisms, to about 1.5 cm, dramatically projects outward in all directions from the shard of basalt matrix. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 5820 and acquired from Al McGuinness in the late 1960s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien-Welt" November-December 2017). A superb pristine example of the rare species and locale with multiple fine display views.
