Item Description

Incorrectly identified as Mixite at the time, a rare hydrated Bi-Cu arsenate, this rich specimen is actually Nepouite, a rare Ni-Mg silicate, which is a Serpentine Subgroup species. The blue-green tufts are similar looking to Mixite. The mines in New Caledonia, France in the Pacific Ocean were nickel laterite deposits. MINDAT does not list Mixite for the locale. Nepouite specimens are RARE from here and this is a very rich, colorful and excellent ore specimen of the Ni-rich species. Ex Josef Vajdak Collection, a noted rarities dealer and collector.
