Item Description
Classic and showy old-time combination Okenite and Gyrolite small cabinet from the famous extinct Malad (Kandivili) Quarry. Striking puffballs of soft-to-the-touch Okenite needles (a rare hydrated silicate) cover a mounded cluster of translucent, bladed, light olive-green Gyrolite balls. Gyrolite is an uncommon hydrated silicate of the Gyrolite Group. Urban sprawl of Bombay (Mumbai) caused the quarry to close. Choice old-time material from the Rock Currier Collection No. 1626 and acquired in 1971. Okenite is a gorgeous, unique mineral that is simply not around the market today!
