Item Description
This Chinese orpiment is gemmy and superb, a rare example of a good balanced specimen in thumbnail size. In addition, it is intergrown with contrasting limestone. The elongated crystal measured 3.5 cm, bright, doubly terminated and transparent. EX: Jingnan (Tom) Zhang collection, from old material found in the early years of Chinese mining at this classic locality in Hunan. Purchased in China, and long held in the thumbnail suite of Jingnan (Tom) Zhang's collection.
