Petalite - gem crystal

Petalite is a rare lithium silicate found in lithium-rich pegmatites such as the Palelni Mine in Burma, where this superb crystal originates. This is a rare, smoky hued, gem crystal of Petalite from finds here a couple of decades ago and considered among best of species material. The crystal is roughly rectangular in shape, three-dimensional in form and is partially etched giving it wonderful character. Some remnant faces are moderately well formed, some are etched with select faces having a beautiful glassy luster while others are satin producing an aesthetic and texturally diverse crystal. There is only one possible contact at a small area near the base, otherwise we believe this to be a complete, all-round floater. This gem has a mass of 15.21 grams. Significant display-quality speicmen, different from the species from any other locality or find, it is incredibly rare. Valued $2000-2500
