Phenakite is one of the rarer gemstones out there, not because the mineral is extremely rare, but it's quite difficult to find even decent sized CLEAN gem material in nature that it suitable for faceting. Some of the most classic and well-known Phenakites have come from various pegmatites in Russia, including the famous type locality for the species, the Izumrudnye Kopi area. This stone is one of, if note THE largest faceted, flawless, colorless Phenakite gems that we've offered in the auctions. It's very attractive with an "Oval Brilliant" cut. Keep in mind that Phenakite is often pale in color, and I personally like it when they are completely colorless, as the stones are often bright, and they are even durable enough to be worn in jewelry. It's incredibly difficult to get your hands on a clean 5+ carat colorless Phenakites from anywhere these days, let alone from the first ever known locality for the species. Priced at $1,545.00 high retail.
