Item Description

A 3.8 cm cluster of very glassy, striated, terminated, light straw-yellow powellite crystals is artistically set amidst pearlescent pink stilbite crystals and sections of snow-white laumontite prisms. Powellilte is the rarest and most desirable mineral from the famed basalts of the Deccan Traps of India. BRIGHT yellow SW and LW UV fluorescence. This fine piece is from the original Indian discovery locality of the 1970s - Pandulena Hill, Nasik and dates from that time period. See the 1982 Mineralogicial Record article in Vol. 13, No. 5. Ex Bob Reynolds Collection, a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of the San Bernardino County Museum. He passed away in 2020. Comes with a 1980s Cal Graeber label with an incorrect locality. $350 was NOT cheap then.
