Item Description

Two generations of Pyrite comprise this very fine small cabinet specimen from Saxony. The first generation Pyrites are mostly intergrown, with some crystal faces expressed on the surface. The second generation crystals are more developed, higlighted by a 1.5 cm cube modified by the octahedron. The Pyrites have that classic, greenish-brass color, and the luster is what I would describe as deep and rich. The Pyrites from this quarry are considered to be among the finest, if not the finest, Pyrites produced from Lower Saxony, and judging by how sculptural this specimen is as the Pyrites sit perfectly on the matrix, you can believe that. Very aesthetic for what it is. Old German dealer label
