Item Description

This is an old East Coast classic, that Harold obtained in trade in the late 90s from a dealer who said it was an old Smithsonian piece (which I cannot verify but is certainly possible). In any case, it IS a VERY RARE LARGE (500 gram!) and showy specimen, handsized, from this classic locality of the late 1800s. You seldom see them so large, nor so rich - and this is both. Whatever the trade was, I think Harold won the day. This is a VERY important piece, unmistakeable for what it is and of a size good enough to be treasured by anybody interested in the historic east coast quarries. This piece is valued $1000-1500
