Item Description

Of all the secondary lead minerals in Arizona, Pyromorphite is actually quite difficult to find and this seems a rare locality specimen. Perhaps some of the best known examples are those from the lesser-known Hardshell Mine in Santa Cruz County. The Pyromorphite occurs in mm-size, lime-green starbursts that are generously and attractively distributed across the Descloizite matrix. Very colorful for an Arizona Pyromorphite, the aesthetics of this piece are both attractive and delicate at the same time. This was recently deaccessed from the extensive collection of Bob Reynolds, who cherished both minerals and fossils as he collected. Bob is a prolific author and has had several curating positions in museums.
