Item Description

Variable rich green, tiny, lustrous, translucent pyromorphite prisms, to 5 mm, richly and attractively cover the blocky quartz matrix. Tiny rich orange wulfenite prisms scattered about are a typical association. This is classic old-time combination material from the historic Wheatley mines. Mining started in 1851 and the mines closed during the Civil War in the 1860s! Limited mining occurred from 1917 to 1920. These are highly desirable American pyromorphites. Ex John Marshall Collection # 4315, a noted East Coast pyromorphite specialist and collector, who passed away in 2008.
