Item Description

A rich and showy mounded combination small cabinet pincushion from the ancient mines at Cavnic. The impressive field of water-clear quartz points, to about 1.8 cm, are peppered with tiny nubby tan calcite crystals. Close examination reveals a myriad of tiny 2nd-generation needle quartz crystals and a few scattered golden chalcopyrite sphenoids. The underlying matrix is sphalerite. The interior appears to be pristine. A classic, fascinating and sculptural 360-degree specimen from Cavnic.
