Item Description

A really unique and eye-catching Quartz specimen, from the famous Pederneira Mine, best known for its world-class Tourmaline specimens. This particular specimen was mined in 1999 right about the time some of the major Tourmaline pockets were discovered. The piece is a superb, sharp, GEMMY, notably flat / tabular crystal wit beautiful horizontal striations and an almost "alligator"-esque texture on the surface. The piece is colorless for all intents and purposes, but a tiny amount of golden (iron?) inclusions give it a bit of coloring. The piece is not only crystallized on the front and back, but it's multi-terminated due to its unique shape and is a complete "floater" with no point of attachment anywhere. As a matter of fact, there are actually a few small secondary Quartz crystals growing on one side of the piece, which are also fully crystallized, so technically this a "floater" group, not just a single crystal. Quartz is one of the most diverse species in the mineral world, with a wide range of colors, varieties and habits, and this particular piece is truly unlike anything I've seen from the locality. A must have for any fan of gem crystals, pegmatite minerals, worldwide Quartz or Brazilian minerals. Priced in the inventory at $1,800.
