Item Description

Among the well-known historic Agates from Germany this mostly-complete Agate is quite rare today. The banding is exquisitely detailed, with the outermost band being the deep, brick red often referred to as Jaspar in these particular Agates. While admiring this cabinet piece, I can't help but think of the intricate and sharp cloud bands of Jupiter. And if that wasn't enough, the UV image revealed that the inner zone of Quartz also contains Opal-AN (Hyalite Opal), as evidenced by the brilliant, neon-green fluorescence. What a pleasant and cool surprise, and it makes this cabinet piece even better! This was #8359 in Kay's collection.
