This piece is from a2016 discovery in the Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra region in Morocco which borders the region of Guelmim-Oued Noun to the north and Dakhla-Oued Ed-Dahab to the south. We purchased this specimens as coming from Smara, which is the second largest town in the region, so the locality might not actually be at Smara, but the specimens could have been acquired / sold there. If you collect Quartz and its many varieties, this is something new and interesting, and the likes of which is not often seen for sale. The piece appears to have grown in multiple generations with a soft creamy golden-white flowing deposition of Chalcedony in the center, which is overgrown by beautiful golden brown semi-botryoidal groups of Chalcedony on the exterior. When it's backlit, the piece shows wonderful internal colors. It's certainly unique material, it doesn't look quite like anything we've seen from any other world locality, and it could certainly be in short supply based upon the limited amount we've seen on the market.
