Item Description
An odd specimen labeled as coming from Casa Grande (no specific mine, so it might have just been found on the surface) featuring a translucent layer of very soft silvery lilac colored Chalcedony which has pseudomorphed after Aragonite on matrix. I've never seen a piece quite like this before, and it's certainly what I would call a "mineral oddity".
From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds, and there is a number from the Kay Robertson Collection glued to the bottom (#Kia - 1015) Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
