Quartz with Hematite inclusions

A robust and showy Quartz crystal from Orange River, South Africa! A nearly perfect bright, translucent red, 7.1 cm Hematite included Quartz crystal with one larger (4.5 cm) and one smaller (2 cm) sidecar crystal. Finely included Hematite as a thin (less than 1 mm) layer is responsible for the fiery orange color of the crystals. If you turn the piece over you can clearly see this Hematite layer and the fact that the crystal is not contacted at the base, but it is in fact multiply terminated and it is transparent to translucent and colorless to very pale gray. It's quite the showy and outstanding piece!
