Quartz with Hematite inclusions

Item Description

This is a very showy two-sided, cabinet sized Hematite-included Quartz specimen from the Orange River area of South Africa. One side shows highly lustrous, robust Quartz crystals mostly, and dramatically, included with Hematite beneath the glassy faces and nearly all of them are doubly terminated! A few small areas are milky to grayish in color as they don't have any included Hematite. There is even a small patch of a mossy green inclusion in the terminal face of one of the Quartz crystals. The opposing side is markedly different as it has a satin luster due to a complete dusting of Hematite at or just slightly below the surface of the Quartz crystals. The largest crystal here is the same doubly terminated one from the other side and I have to say that both sides are equally displayable and for different reasons and features! There is a pinkish tan wedge of granular Quartz matrix that the the Quartz crystals have grown on. A very attractive and distinguished, two-sided cabinet piece!
