Item Description

Dense old-time solid cyclically-twinned and reticulated cerussite blades from the famous Mammoth-St. Anthony Mine at Tiger. The classic "snowflake" and "bridge girder" architecture of blades in areas on this piece are striking. Contacted areas have classic glassy adamantine lustre while other areas have oxide coatings and inclusions, adding color and character. Good Tiger cerussites of this richness and quality are not that common, even with the noted bruising. Tiger specimens of any species are among the most desirable of any Arizona locality. The mine closed in 1953. See the 1980 Mineralogical Record article in Vol. 11, No. 3. This is a highly representative, fairly large solid 360-degree example of the species and noted locale. Ex Bob Reynolds Collection, a well-known fossil and mineral expert and Curator of the San Bernardino County Museum. He passed away in 2020. Altogether, it is better than anything you could normally find at a show from this location and is a true old classic in good size. Hefty lead ore at 256 grams mass.
