Item Description

Rich, open clusters of almost two dozen, very well-formed, transparent to translucent, rose-pink Rhodochrosite rhombs nicely accent and provide fabulous contrast to a shimmering gray-black matrix of botryoidal manganese oxides from the well-known Uchucchacua Silver Mine. The rhombs have excellent luster, are a well-saturated pink-red, and have very sharp edges and forms! Rhombohedral crystals from Uchucchacua preceded the discovery of the equally desired scalenohedrons. These rhombs are gemmy to translucent, with the largest being 1.2 cm across. In excellent condition and the piece is very aesthetically pleasing! An exceptional Rhodochrosite from Peru! The base is a highly silicified and composed of massive pink rhodonite. The piece has a sawn base where it was removed from a much larger piece. valued $750-950.
