Item Description

Outstanding combination piece from the historic locality once know as Nagyag, Transylvania. The delicate, finger-like stalactites (about 1 cm long) of Rhodochrosite have a gemmy coating of drusy Calcite, which adds sparkle and pizzazz to an already interesting cabinet piece. The condition is excellent, with just a few tips showing exposed Rhodo. On top of all this, the provenence is great, having been in the collections of Lady Elizabeth Anne Coxe Hippisley and Sir Arhur Russell befor becoming #5180 in Kay's collection. Better even in person, I think, as you can really appreciate the delicate and subtle color variations.
