Here we have a wonderful old time specimen of Rhodochrosite from Cavnic slightly drusy baby pink crystals which are sitting atop a layer of darker pink botryoidal Rhodo on colorless gemmy Quartz crystals on matrix. The piece almost looks like it formed as a geode(?), as it's partially curved and almost looks like it was "cracked" open to reveal the gorgeous pink Rhodo inside. From the worldwide Rhodochrosite collection of Dr. William S. Logan (Specimen #X10-8). This is an OLD specimen, as there is a label from Anthony A. Lizzul from Brooklyn, New York that refers to the locality as being "Kapnik, Hungary", so the piece could date back over 100 years. Valued at $950 retail.
