The Uchucchacua mine has produced some of the finest quality Rhodochrosite specimens around. Their attractive crystals combined with beautiful pink and red colors make for some beautiful display specimens. This small cabinet size specimen is notably different than most Rhodos I've seen from this mine. Instead of red scalenohedra, this one hosts several beautiful pink "balls" of Rhodochrosite measuring up to 7 mm across on sparkling grey Quartz crystals on matrix. The Rhodo "balls" have a gentle sparkling luster on the surface. Beautiful material, and a great piece to add to a Rhodo suite or a Peruvian collection just because it's different than the typical specimens from this locality. From the collection of Dennis Uridil.
