Item Description
Rhodochrosite from the Sunnyside mine is one of the staples of any good Colorado or Rhodochrosite collection, or any good collection for that matter. In my opinion, this mine is second only to the famous Sweet Home Mine in Colorado as far as quality US Rhodochrosites are concerned. This choice cabinet piece has two sets of classic, pink Rhodo rhombs, to 1.2 cm, sitting on a matrix of floral clusters of very fine Quartz needles. This is a desirable, representative piece for the mine, unusually large with good aesthetics. For reference, there is a 2011 Lithographie issue is devoted entirely to minerals of the San Juans. Formerly in the extensive collection of W & A Cook.
