Item Description

An unusual, showy and RARE combination miniature from the well-known polymetallic mines of the Morococha District. Well-known for rhodochrosite, sharp, lustrous, translucent, rich rose-pink rhombs, to 7 mm, are aesthetically clustered on the strange looking, mounded, layered matrix. Fluorite is RARE from here, but spherical clusters of tiny, lustrous, translucent amber fluorite crystals are scattered near and on some of the rhodo rhombs. Strangest of all, the mound is covered with bladed botryoids of an unknown mineral (siderite?), many of which, have a colorful, contrasting gray-white coating. RARE, perhaps unique combination rhodochrosite from the W.S. Logan Collection # X22-5.
