Item Description

Mineral specimens of ANY type are RARE from this less well-known extinct molybdenum mine, near the better known Henderson Mine. The Urad Mine produced from 1914 to 1919 and from 1967 until 1974 (MINDAT). A showy 2.2 cm cluster of frosted rose-red to pastel-pink rhodochrosite rhombs is jauntily perched atop a combination matrix of rhodochrosite, drusy quartz, quartz, purple fluorite, sulfides and brassy pyrite. Acquired from respected Colorado field collector and dealer, Joe Dorris. Ex W.S. Logan Collection # X16-5 and illustrated on Page 75 of his 2013 self-published book, Rhodochrosite - Crystals of Drama and Nuance (available by request). Rich matrix specimens of this quality are very hard to obtain today. A MUST for the Colorado or species collector!
