Item Description

The Wutong Mine became famous in the early 2000s for producing outstanding and then world-class rhodochrosite specimens. But, the mine was originally discovered in 1958 and developed as a modest Pb-Zn-Ag mine. Combination rhodochrosite and zinc ore (sphalerite) specimens are very rare from here. A prominent thick vein of sections of rich rose-red, lustrous, translucent rhodochrosite rhombs strikingly courses across the sculptural partially rubyjack sphalerite matrix.
