Item Description

The Hercules Mine, adjacent to the famous Little Three Mine, is well-known for gorgeous rich orange spessartine garnet and schorl specimens. This most sculptural 360-degree small cabinet combination is highlighted by a 4.5 cm lustrous, jet-black terminated schorl crystal attractively cloaked in contrasting florets of bladed white cleavelandite and pearlescent muscovite books. Etching on the prism faces of the schorl adds much character. See the 2002 Mineralogical Record issue, Vol. 33, No. 5 and MINDAT: https://www.mindat.org/loc-11800.html for more information on the mine. A very aesthetic schorl combination self-collected by Bill Larson in the 1970s to 1990s. Ex Bill Larson San Diego County Pegmatite Collection and long on display at his Pala International shop in Fallbrook.
