Item Description
Shcherbakovite is a RARE complex K-Ba-Na-Ti-Nb-silicate found in exotic alkaline granite massifs. A section of a large 3.5 x. 3.2 cm, lustrous, striated dark brown prism dominates the front of the triangular small cabinet. Lustrous, green, striated Aegirine is next to the Shcherbakovite and another side hosts platy bright golden-brown Lamprophyllite. There are more crystals of the species on another side as a bonus. This large open pit phosphate mine is near the Type Locality mine in the well-known Mt. Khibiny Massif of the Kola Peninsula. A VERY RARE and RICH Russian specimen with what we believe to be a large crystal of the rare species. Ex Colin Manlove rare species collection (and he purchased much from us, and from the Fersman Museum, back in the 1990s). This came from the well known dealer Brad Van Scriver, himself a direct source of early Russian minerals.
