Incredible ULTRA RARE Chinese Schorl Tourmaline with Quartz, and a large display piece at that! While Schorl is somewhat more common throughout the world you just do not see collection grade examples from China. This non matrix piece consists of a large spray with several clusters of trigonal jet black Tourmaline crystals that exhibit a highly vitreous luster with matte pinacoidal terminations. The crystals reach up to 19.5 cm in length and have a pronounced growth curvature. There are also a multitude of secondary Quartz crystals attached to the Schorl. These provide a visual accent to the Schorl especially due to the contrasting late stage light green clay that coats the Quartz and the Schorl terminations. The piece is in great condition with only a few minor bruises on a couple of the Quartz crystals. This striking Tourmaline has the quality to stand on its own merits but combining such an unique locality to it just takes it to the next level.
