Item Description

Silver was found only sporadically in the upper oxidation zones at Tsumeb (mostly as ore) until the discoveries in the second and third oxidation zones where some fantastic specimens such as this, were recovered. However, most was flat and ugly, while this is a beautiful and arborescent specimen. This sculptural and super aesthetic thumbnail is from the third oxidation zone, by style, and is incredibly bright. It is almost shaped like a dragon. With the aid of a loupe, you can see that the Silver is composed entirely of equant, intergrown Silver crystals - sharp and rare for Tsumeb. For wonderful effect, there is a tiny, glistening cluster of Zincolivenite crystals at the lower right of the Silver. A stunning Tsumeb thumbnail Silver with a great association! Such specimens are few and far between.
