Item Description

A lovely miniature sized specimen of the rare and fairly new compound phosphate species Skorpionite from the type locality, the Skorpion Mine in Namibia. Since it was discovered, Skorpionite has been reported from Tsumeb as well, so there are only TWO places in the world where this species has been found. This piece features a crystallized vug filled with white "needle"-like crystals of Skorpionite which are overgrowing translucent soft greenish colored crystals of Tarbuttite on matrix. Very hard to find on the market, and it's really beautiful under the microscope! If you collect rarities, or species from the type locality, don't miss out on this one. From the Collection of Shields Flynn.
