Item Description

An eye-catching yellow Smithsonite from a now famous find at Weinan, near Wenshan, that actually happened around 2003-2005, and was hoarded until recently. The yellow color is thought to be due to cadmium content, as with yellow Smithsonite from Tsumeb, Italy, and Mexico. These are very similar to Italian Smithsonites (Masua Mine) from the 1800s. This is a particularly appealing, balanced specimen featuring a coverage of translucent, vitreous/velvety, beautiful yellow and golden colored botryoidal formations on matrix. Excellent condition with no major damage, only roughness on the periphery where it was removed from the pocket wall. This seems to have been a lost locality, and I have seen no specimens attributed to recent collecting here. Don't miss out on this one as very few are available on the market now.
