Vivid pink, juicy, waxy luster, translucent bubbly smithsonite botryoids on this sculptural small cabinet banded crust from the closed El Refugio Mine at Choix, Mexico.This is classic, old 1960s or 1970s vintage material from this essentially mined out locale, that was documented in a 2011 Mineralogical Record Mexico-VI Special Issue, Vol. 42, No. 5. Many of us consider them much more beautiful than botryoidal smithsonite from nearly all other localities. The rich pink hue is highly desirable, among the many colored produced and this is a fine example. Ex Tony Gleckler Collection. The luster is much better in person.
