Item Description

From the San Antonio Mine in the famous Santa Eulalia District, this is a excellent, highly visual specimen in which sharp, dogtooth Calcite scalenohedrons have been (replaced) pseudomorphed by tan Smithsonite. The pseudomorphs reach up to 9 mm, and their individual form and spray-like clusters are both outstanding. Several of the broken crystals reveal that these are Smithsonite epimorphs (or shells), with some remaining Calcite visible. They rest on crystals of Fluorite, which interestingly are infused with thousands of microflecks of shiny sulfides. This old classic is really a SPECTACULAR and AESTHETIC Santa Eulalia pseudomorph, beautifully constructed, and sculptural. it is not colorful, but it has an impact from teh geometry and shape, that is hard to convey. A very , very impressive specimen in person.
