Reel Mine amethyst and smoky quartz/amethyst are an uncommon and highly desirable North Carolina classic. This impressive and sculptural 360-degree large specimen is aesthetically composed of tightly intergrown smoky quartz crystals with beautiful light blush purple interiors. The very glassy well-formed prisms, to about 5.8 cm, are transparent to translucent and have striking dark smoky to dark purple terminations and fascinating sharp dark phantoms, which really heighten the presentation of the piece. One end crystal even has platy clay inclusions. Complete all-around and nearly pristine, with only a trivial bit of termination and edge scuffing. The bit of basal periphery wear is certainly acceptable in the context of this very fine large example. Every turn presents a distinctively different presentation. Valued $1000
