Item Description

This is a sharp as can be wished for, 1 cm-tall, tapered xl of the rare platinum mineral species Sperrylite. It is actually the first sperry I had ever seen in person, back in the late 1980s, when it was in the collection of my own mentor, Carlton Davis. He was a well-known collector of both rarities and superlative thumbnails, and this was one of his best pieces. It features a REALLY UNUSUAL crystal for the species, with an elongated, almost prismatic habit to it, perched on a bit of matrix. This is a competition-level thumbnail, of one of the most glamorous rare crystallized species as I see it. Valued $2000 or more
