Item Description

A very sculptural miniature cluster of intergrown, sharp, striated, moderately lustrous, dark charcoal-gray twinned sphalerite crystals from this classic Creede mine. Some of the crystal faces have nice iridescence, which really adds pizzazz to this very fine example. The crystals reach 2.0 cm and this showy piece has multiple display views. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 9479 and acquired from Golden Minerals (Don Knowles) at the 1982 Tucson Show. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien-Welt" November-December 2017). Specimens of this quality are seldom available.
