Item Description

Some of the finest crystallized examples of Sphalerite from Colorado are the famous examples from Creede. This miniature specimen is a very nice example of this classic material. This piece features fairly sharp, well-formed, euhedral crystals of Sphalerite with minor associated Quartz. When backlit, the Sphalerites are also gemmy with a rich golden color (and slight greenish highlights) that one is accustomed to seeing from this locality. The largest Sphalerite measures 3.1 cm across. Good quality all around, with no major damage on the top / display side of the piece. You do not see these specimens any more, so if you collect sulfides, worldwide Sphalerites or minerals of Colorado, don't miss out on this one. From the collection of Brian Kosnar. Priced at $500.
